When Michael Thonet created the first A14 bentwood chair, he thought there could not be a simpler chair.  After all, the A14 bentwood chair is comprised of only six pieces of beechwood.  Czech designer Jaroslav Jurica proved this idea wrong while keeping in the bentwood furniture tradition of Michael Thonet.  In the 002 Bentwood Chair, Jurica uses just three pieces of wood to create a surprisingly comfortable chair.

Using equations from the French mathematician Gabriel Lame, Jurica worked on developing the 002 Bentwood Chair at the Ton factory.  The ergonomics of the bentwood chair were studied and tested until the final form was developed and finally introduced at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2011.

The 002 bentwood chair won the Interior Innovation Award in 2012.
